Some first impressions

At Saturday I arrived at Malta and my very first impression when I when outside was that it was pretty nice and warm weather compared to Holland. A bit windy, but nice and warm. It was a big difference esspecially as when the plane stopped in Brussels it started to snow and we needed to wait untill a crew came to spray water on the plane to remove the snow.
When Stefan and I arrived to the house the Italian students were still awake, we would not have thought differently. They were drinking wine and having a small party, so they were really surprised when they saw us come in. Immediately they were very nice and we are so lucky to have them as roommates. We got a tour around the whole house and they explained everything about it. Then when we sat down they were planning some things we needed to see and that we needed a welcoming party, so we had that on saterday night.
One thing that is really wonderfull is that most of the people here are so nice! When you ask them something they are always willing to answer. We found that out when we were searching for the supermarket and when we needed to go to Future Focus on Monday. There was one woman walked with us to make sure we would find the place. When we did our shopping in the supermarket we came out with 5 big shopping bags, so we where taking a break every minute to rest. Then a girl came up and we both tought she wanted to ask something, but then she offered to help us to carry the bags to the house. Our house was not even in the direction she was going. We were asthounished by this, because something like this would have never happened in Holland. At least we have never experienced it.
The busses here are really different from Holland, because the busdrivers are crazy mostly. They drive fast, do not close the door, sometimes do not stop when you need to go out, so then you need to jump out and there are many more things I can tell. It is just something you need to experience yourself. I have made a small movie of our first bus ride, so you can have the Maltese bus experience also a little bit. The video is a bit shacky, because of the bad roads and the way the drivers speeds on them. what is really scary is that most busses sound like they could blow up any minute, but now I am getting used to the sound.
I see lots of simularities between the culture of Cyprus and the culture of Malta in the way of driving and the relaxed mood the people have. The people inside my work placement company also said that Cyprus and Malta are a bit the same. But now I am not going to talk more about my company, because otherwise I will not have anything left to write in my weekly report tomorrow.
