My work placement company works with an program that runs the whole store. In this program you can do the financial parts, like making invoices, point of sales and costs of imported goods. But you can also see information about the products, like how many we have, what the last price the company paid for them was and descriptions of what kind of product it is. The training I received was just to learn it in the moment. So when a customer want to buy something they showed how it worked and let me do it a couple of times and then I knew how to do it. And this is for all the things in the program they use. Because some of the things we use a lot and some of them I do not use. So there is no point in explaining every little program in the computer when some of them you will not use.
The program is very easy to work with, but it gets stuck almost every day. And when you have for example five programs open in it, it gets very slow and you need to close some of them. So the program is not reliable at all. Also the computers they have are not reliable, because one computer is broke now and the other computer you need to hit sometimes before it gets on. The one that is broken, is now broken for over more than a week, so we need to work with one computer. That is sometimes hard, because when it gets busy you can only help one customer at a time. But the one that is broken will be replaced by a new one, so that is better for the store.
I would recommend that they buy new computers and but new ones over some years and go on like that. Even if they are not broken, because the computers need to be reliable to work on. For example they can decide to replace the computers every 3 years or 5 years. And maybe they could also update the program one time, so that it runs smoother.
