I do not feel Maltese, because I know that my nationality is Dutch. However I have adapted to the Maltese lifestyle, so I life a bit like the Maltese people. As you have read first it was a bit hard to adapt on some parts, like take everything as it comes. When you want to go somewhere you go out and see what the day brings, which bus comes and so on. After a few weeks I got used to this and now I also think like this, just take it as it comes!
Now I have really started to like the life I live here and sort of fell in love with the island and everything with it. I love to get up and go out of the house everyday and enjoy the little things that happen on the day. For example when I get out to go to work and the sun is shining and when I arrive in Valletta and see the birds hopping around looking for food, then I feel so lucky to be here on this island and got the chance to experience something like this. Of course sometimes things happen that are not so much fun, but in the end the good things stay in my mind they outnumber the bad ones.
But in the end I AM DUTCH and I will always stay Dutch where ever I go. So do not worry people at home (family, friends) I have not turned into a Maltese, yet! :D
